PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. — The man who brutally killed a Greenbelt teacher will spend the rest of his life in prison for the gruesome murder.
Harold Landon III was found guilty of murdering Mariame Toure Sylla in June after the jury was presented with a slew of physical evidence.
Landon was sentenced for first-degree murder on Friday. A judge ordered him to serve life in prison, with no opportunity for parole.
Silva, a 59-year-old second-grade teacher, was reported missing after she left her home to take a walk and never returned. Three days later, police found her decapitated and dismembered body near a pond in the Clinton area, according to court documents.
