RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Richfield Township Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run during a police pursuit early Sunday morning.

According to an Oct. 17 Facebook post from the department, an officer attempted to stop a northbound side-by-side utility vehicle around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in front of Charlton Heston Academy for traffic violations.

The driver of the UTV struck the patrol vehicle, forcing both vehicles off the roadway on North St. Helen Road near Carter Road.

The patrol car was left inoperable, and the side-by-side fled the scene, continuing north toward Airport Road, officials said.
