SAVANNAH, Ga. (KWQC) - An 8-year-old cancer survivor from Donahue, Iowa, announced the Savannah Bananas baseball team will play at Kinnick Stadium in July as part of their world tour.

Hugh Harvey made the announcement in front of thousands of fans at the 2026 City Selection Show . The team selected Hugh for the honor after he completed treatment for high-risk neuroblastoma.

“I wasn’t that nervous because we had a rehearsal before all of it,” Hugh said.

Cancer battle and recovery

Nearly two years ago, Hugh was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, 99% of his bone marrow was cancerous.
