A Fort Wayne woman has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for stabbing a man to death when he refused to buy her crack cocaine.

Yvonne M. Broadnax, 48, would face at least 20 years in prison, and the charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years. She was initially charged with murder after Troy Jay Madison, 62, was fatally stabbed in the head and neck on June 10, 2024.

The murder charge would be dropped if Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent accepts the plea agreement filed Thursday. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.

Madison was found lying on the floor with stab wounds in an apartment in the 1400 block of Fletcher Avenue, a probable cause affidavit said. Medics provided care for about 40 minutes before Madison died.
