CLEVELAND — The dance floor was packed, the music was pumping, and everyone was dressed to impress. But this wasn't your typical prom night.

At the Public Library on Wednesday, dozens of people living with dementia and their gathered for a special senior prom — part of a monthly series of events called "memory cafes" designed to bring joy, community, and cognitive stimulation to those facing memory loss.

The event is a partnership between Cleveland Clinic Geriatrics, the Cuyahoga County Public Library, and the Farrell Foundation for Brain Health.

Among those in attendance was 85-year-old Mary Sue Mottola, who was recently diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.

"I have Lewy body," Mary Sue said. "I don't tell everyone, but I trust you."
