Oscar Isaac had the time of his life playing one of literature’s most tortured souls.

In Guillermo del Toro’s reimagining of “ Frankenstein ,” Isaac takes on the role of Victor Frankenstein, describing his performance as unexpectedly pleasurable despite the character’s darkness. He even admitted to del Toro that he was concerned by how much he was enjoying portraying a man consumed by rage and obsession.

“I didn’t expect that playing this character was going to be so fun and joyful,” Isaac says during the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast . “I mean, some dark stuff. This guy’s got a lot of rage, he’s got a lot of damage, and yet, I’m finding it really enjoyable.”
