Thorold city council wants public input on what to do with its former fire station and surrounding property in Port Robinson.
Councillors recently voted in favour of holding a public meeting Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Darlene Ryan Community Centre at 40 Cross St., to address the best approach to the property that was previously used for Fire Station 3.
A city staff report said the property at 7 and 11 River St. “no longer meets the operational requirements for the community” and would need to be transferred from the municipal land and building reserve to get an appraisal and subsequent sale.
“The location, layout and cost to bring the structure to a state of good repair makes the property unsuitable for further municipal use,” the report said.
