CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The Charleston Housing Authority is searching for a new chief executive officer as the organization undergoes a period of redevelopment, officials said Friday.

Public housing is entering a new era, the authority said, which requires a complex understanding of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and extensive experience in mixed-use development.

As a result, the Charleston Housing Authority is searching for a new chief to lead them through the new phase.

Current CEO Arthur Milligan Jr. will continue to serve as the agency makes its way through the hiring process. Milligan has led the agency through key redevelopment projects, strengthened its foundation, and deepened community partnerships.
