CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A judge has denied bond for the former Charleston County magistrate judge who was arraigned Thursday morning on federal child pornography charges.
James Benjamin Gosnell Jr., 68, faces six different charges related to the possession, receipt, distribution, attempted receipt of and conspiracy to receive and distribute child sex abuse materials, federally referred to as child pornography.
He appeared at Thursday’s arraignment wearing a Williamsburg County Detention Center jumpsuit. He responded to a few questions and the judge went over the minimum and maximum penalties he could face on the charges.
His defense attorney did not put up an argument on denying bond.
