Hundreds of coats were donated to children at the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Dorchester on Friday.
The winter clothing was donated by FedEx in partnership with the organization Operation Warm, a national nonprofit that makes brand-new, high-quality coats and shoes for children in need.
"It's probably the greatest thing I get to do all year," said FedEx's Ryan Brasser. "They'll go through, they'll get the color and the size of the coat they like."
According to the school's data, about 97% of its students are considered "high needs."
"It’s a remarkable opportunity for our students," said Principal Dr. Mario Pires. "To have outside partners come into our school community, it's really remarkable to be a part of. ... It feels good to see them happy and smile and k
