Smith Township Police were busy on Friday, closing down miles of road due to dead chicken carcasses and chicken parts being spilled.
Officers at the scene told 21 News that the dead chickens and chicken parts were scattered down multiple roads from western Mahoning County all the way to Ravenna.
Traffic is being diverted from Middletown, Oyster, Bandy Roads and a few other roads in Smith Township.
Smith Township Police Lieutenant Steve McDaniel told 21 News that local chicken farms had contracted with a company to haul away dead chicken carcasses from the local facilities.
The dump truck that left the farm was stopped nearly 20 miles away at the intersection of State Route 14 and State Route 5 in Ravenna.
