“It’s nice to be nominated, but I certainly didn’t think that I would be winning it. But I guess I’m old enough now,” joked the 75-year-old. Article content Article content

“I’ve been doing this for a long time, and you don’t think of awards doing this kind of thing.”

After all, it wasn’t as if Rankin had set out to be a music promoter.

“It just sort of evolved. It certainly wasn’t planned. It wasn’t intentional by any means,” Rankin said. “It was very much me just following my nose.”
