WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - In the last five years, Wichita has averaged eight fatal motorcycle crashes per year. With over two months left in 2025, there have already been seven.

The Wichita Police Department says it’s difficult to pin-point one commonality between all of the motorcycle crashes, but Captain Jason Stephens was able to identify a few trends.

Stephens says these deadly crashes often happen to drivers while making left hand turns and when pulling out of private driveways. He also said speed, not yielding the right of way, and distracted driving plays a part. He said these crashes may be the result of not being able to see motorcyclists while driving.
