Kauai police have arrested a 24-year-old man for the alleged reckless handling of illegal fireworks on Thursday morning after an explosion in the residential area of Kilauea.
Officers responded to the area at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing the scene immediately after the blast.
Surveillance footage from a Ring camera showed a male suspect igniting what appeared to be an aerial firework, which appeared to fly out of control and land under a parked car before exploding.
No injuries were reported.
Police identified the suspect as Bronze Robson, 24, of Kilauea, and later arrested him on suspicion of reckless endangering in the second degree. Robson is currently being held in a cellblock. His bail is set at $1,000.
