ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A woman has been sentenced to prison after her 13-month-old daughter died in a hot car, according to the Newton County district attorney.

The district attorney said on Oct. 10, 2023, Ariel Osbey, 29 at the time, left her 13-month-old daughter, Imani, in a hot car while she “traveled to a Newton County residence to provide cleaning services.

According to the district attorney, Osbey left Imani in the car for nearly five hours. When Osbey finished her work and drove away, she noticed Imani was unresponsive and called 911. First responders arrived and took Imani to the hospital, where she later died. Hospital staff found her internal temperature to be 107 degrees.
