CONCORD, N.H. —
Lawmakers in Concord are gearing up for another fight over control of the New Hampshire National Guard.
Some lawmakers are actively trying to get Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth involved in the debate over the Defend the Guard Act.
"I, as a Gold Star Father who lost a son, never want to see another American boot on foreign soil ever again, unless we have a declaration of war," said state Rep. Skip Rollins, R-Newport.
The Defend the Guard Act would require a declaration of war before New Hampshire guardsmen can be deployed in another country.

The House passed the bill in 2024, gaining national attention and the open support of Hegseth, who was a cable news host at the time and is now Pr
