UPDATE 7:50 p.m. Oct. 16, 2025 The dog was found unconscious in the garage and fire crews attempted to resuscitate the animal with a Fido mask . As the dog showed signs of trying to breathe, a K-9 police officer and MFMD’s Battalion Safety Officer transported the dog to an animal hospital.

“Unfortunately, the dog succumbed to their injuries,” said an MFMD spokesperson just before 8 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY 6:15 p.m. Oct. 16, 2025 Firefighters quickly contained a garage fire at a home in the Acacia Crossings neighborhood this evening.
