A 14-year-old boy was shot in broad daylight in the Loop, Chicago police said Friday.

The shooting was reported at approximately 4:19 p.m. along South Wells Street near West Monroe Street. Police said a suspect produced a gun and fired in the direction of the 14-year-old victim, who was standing near the sidewalk.

The victim was shot in the leg and taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Video captured by Sky 5 captured a portion of the sidewalk cordoned off by crime scene tape as police worked on the scene.

No one was in custody as of Friday evening.

Area Three detectives were investigating.
