CROMWELL, Conn. — Cromwell police arrested a 63-year-old man on Friday after receiving a complaint that he was asking for sex from a 15-year-old in exchange for money, according to the town's police department.
In a press release, Chief of Police Frederick Sifodaskalakis alleges that Christopher Root, of Simsbury, was messaging with an adult female who was posing as a teen on the "Whisper" app. They were set to meet up at a Super 8 Motel, where Cromwell PD officers were awaiting Root's arrival.
Root was taken into custody and charged with enticing a minor and commercial sexual abuse of a minor. He was released after posting a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
