NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Hundreds of people from across Connecticut came together Friday evening in New Britain to honor the life of 11-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres-Garcia, whose death has deeply impacted the community and sparked a growing call for justice.
Chants of “We love you, Mimi!” echoed down Clark Street as family members, friends, and neighbors surrounded a memorial site filled with candles, flowers and photographs. Many hugged and comforted one another as they reflected on the young girl’s life and the heartbreak left behind.
