OROVILLE, Calif. - The Butte County District Attorney's Office says that a Oroville couple who's two-year-old son died from acute fentanyl intoxication was held to answer in Butte County Superior Court Friday on charges of child abuse causing great bodily injury.
Authorities say the incident occurred on March 9, when 29-year-old Chelsea Whitfield and 28-year-old Anthony Solansky reportedly found their son unresponsive after they woke up from sleeping most of the day.
Upon realizing their son was unresponsive, the parents rushed him to Oroville Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead at Oroville Hospital. The Butte County District Attorney's Office says acute fentanyl intoxication was identified as the cause of death for the child.
