GREENSBORO, N.C. — More than 58 million Americans live with arthritis , often managing pain through shots that only last around six months before more are needed. For many, that leads to a tough choice: keep getting injections or undergo surgery. But a new option available in Greensboro offers something in between: low-dose radiation.

Cone Health recently began using low-dose radiation to treat arthritis. It's the same technology used to fight cancer, but at a much lower intensity.

“It’s about ten percent or even less of what we use to treat cancer,” said Dr. Claire Lanier. “There are minimal to no side effects, and people go right back to work the same day.”
