Canterbury Cathedral is hosting a new art exhibition which has divided the opinion of the public. 'Hear Us' is the latest creative installation to find a home in the Grade I-listed landmark and has now opened for people to view.
A collaboration between poet Alex Vellis and curator Jacquiline Creswell, the duo worked with marginalised communities and a team of artists to create handwritten literature responding to the question: “What would you ask God?” Presented in modern graffiti style, blended with elements of the iconic landmark, these questions have been 'expertly and sensitively' temporarily affixed to the cathedral’s pillars, walls and floors.
The artwork has proven very controversial within Canterbury and beyond, with one visitor comparing the installation to “an underground car
