A letter purporting to be from the NSW Education Standards Authority about a rescheduled Higher School Certificate (HSC) exam has been labelled a hoax.
The viral photo of a notice that English 2 students are required to re-sit their final exam has been identified as false, with the education board slamming the scam as "unnecessary stress for students".
"We are aware of a hoax being shared online concerning 'rescheduled exams' for English Paper 2," a spokesperson for the NSW Education Standards Authority said in a statement released on Saturday night.
"This is false and is incredibly disappointing.
"Sharing hoaxes contributes unnecessary stress for students, who are focused on preparing for their exams.
