ANN ARBOR – Michigan’s hockey team was tied 1-1 with Robert Morris University on Friday but took a penalty late in the first period.

Successfully killing off the penalty could have given the fourth-ranked Wolverines some momentum heading into the intermission, but senior forward Josh Eernisse had an opportunity for more. Defenseman Tyler Duke feathered a pass up the middle of the ice that sprung Eernisse on a breakaway. He froze the goalie with a backhand-to-forehand move before beating him over the glove with a quick shot.

Eernisse gave Michigan a 2-1 lead and then extended it midway through the second. The onslaught continued as the team rolled to a 10-2 victory to complete a two-game sweep over the Colonials at Yost Ice Arena.
