KINGSTON — Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger said she remains optimistic about the future of the iPark 87 redevelopment despite $6.7 million being owed by National Resources – the property’s owner.
The county executive said that the Ulster County Economic Development Alliance (UCEDA) holds the mortgages and will be pushing for payment.
“They’re responsible for their taxes and mortgage payments,” Metzger said. “My preference, of course, is that they pay their taxes now. But at the end of the day, they’ll be responsible for any penalties incurred.”
Metzger emphasized that the site — the former IBM/TechCity complex in the Town of Ulster — has made “tremendous progress” since the previous owner allowed it to languish for years.
