Ontario households could soon see higher electricity bills now that the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has announced new electricity prices.

New pricing takes effect on Nov. 1, the same day winter time-of-use hours begin.

The OEB sets electricity prices for households, small businesses and farms each year.

What are the new electricity prices

Electricity prices are set to increase from last year for residential customers on time-of-use pricing.

Starting Nov. 1, the on-peak price will be 20.3 cents/kWh, mid-peak 15.7 cents/kWh and off-peak 9.8 cents/kWh, the OEB announced in a news release on Oct. 17.

The new prices increase from those in effect until Oct. 31, currently sitting at 15.8 cents/kWh for on-peak times, 12.2 cents/kWh for mid-peak and 7.6 cents/kWh for off-peak hours.
