In a major blow to Australia, all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the upcoming three-ODI series against India, which begins on October 19 in Perth. Cricket Australia (CA) has called up batter Marnus Labuschagne as the replacement, as the 31-year-old continues to redeem his place in the national setup.

CA labeled the injury, which Green reportedly picked up while bowling in training, ‘side soreness’, but fears will prop up about his fitness for the 2025 Ashes, considering how important his all-round game is for the hosts. The board said the injury is ‘low grade’ and ‘precautionary,’ and they expect Green to be available for the third round of the Sheffield Shield, Australia’s premier domestic red-ball competition, from October 28-31.
