HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Runners, walkers, and spectators all together gathered in Holyoke on Saturday for the fourth annual Magic for Maddie 5K, family fun walk, and carnival at Ashley Reservoir.

Magic for Maddie was founded after 8-year-old Madeline “Maddie” Schmidt lost her battle with a rare type of brain cancer called DIPG. The foundation aims to raise funds to go towards DIPG research and support other families who are battling pediatric cancer.

Registration and bib pickup started at 11 a.m., the Kids Fun Run took off at noon, and the shot gun start for the 5K and Family Fun Walk was at 1 p.m. Everything is followed but the carnival featuring local entertainment and food, and family friendly activities.
