LUBBOCK, Texas-- Texas Tech Athletics reported Saturday afternoon that senior quarterback Behren Morton will be available for this afternoon's matchup against Arizona State, but only as an emergency role.

A press release received from Texas Tech Athletics stated that Morton will play an emergency role as he continues to recover from an injury suffered last weekend against Kansas.

A redshirt freshman will be making his second career start and his first of the season, while senior Mitch Griffis will serve as the primary backup. Hammond made his first career start at the end of the 2024 season in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, completing 20 of 34 passes for 280 yards and one touchdown against the Razorbacks.

Kickoff between the No. 7 Red Raiders and Sun Devils is slated for 3 p.m. CT Saturday
