The Marion County Sheriff's Office is assisting the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation after human remains were found in Marion Oaks.

According to the sheriff's office, human remains were found in the 3200 block of SW 27th Circle in Marion Oaks off SW Highway 484 around 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. The remains were recovered, and FDLE has taken over the investigation.

MCSO said there is no evidence that the remains are related to any of its active cases.
