(CNN) - Spanish police are investigating the disappearance of a small painting by Pablo Picasso.

The 1919 work “Still Life with Guitar” measures just five by four inches, smaller than most hands.

It was supposed to go on display starting Oct. 9 at Caja Granada Cultural Center in southern Spain.

The foundation that runs the center said the Picasso work was delivered by van alongside other art pieces.

All were under video surveillance in the exhibition hall.

It was during the unpacking of the artworks that the curator realized the Picasso piece was missing.

According to Reuters, the painting is owned by a private collector and is insured for $700,000.

Police said the missing piece has been added to the international database of stolen artworks.
