A cyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Burlington Friday morning.

At around 6:29 a.m. on Oct. 17, the cyclist was travelling northbound on Appleby Line, north of Harvester Road , when he was involved in a collision with a Mazda SUV, Halton police said in a news release.

The cyclist, described as a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and is co-operating with the police investigation.

Const. Ryan Anderson, Halton police’s media officer, said no arrests have been made and no charges have been laid in connection with this incident.

Due to the severity of the collision, the Halton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and will be conducting the investigation.
