Seven people have been charged for illegally flying drones over Rogers Centre during the Blue Jays’ playoff games earlier this week, Toronto police said.
Officers intercepted seven unauthorized drone flights over and around Rogers Centre as the Jays faced off against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday and Monday for the first two games of the American League Championship Series, police said in a Saturday news release .
Eight charges were laid against the seven people operating the drones and micro-drones, which weigh under 249 grams. The people were charged under Part IX of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, which sets out the rules for remotely piloted aircraft.
Police also issued fines to the operators for violating the no-fly zone over Rogers Centre during the playoff games.
