Logan Gilbert has a strong track record of success, just not against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Yet the Seattle Mariners will start the star right-hander in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the Blue Jays on Sunday (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).

With a win the Mariners will break through to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

Gilbert started Game 2 of the series on only two days’ rest after pitching two-plus innings in the Mariners’ 15-inning marathon ALDS clincher over the Detroit Tigers.

In his first-ever post-season appearance against Toronto, the former all-star allowed six baserunners and two earned runs over three innings in what ultimately ended up as a 10-3 Mariners win, putting them up 2-0 in the series.
