Eldred honored beloved former football coach Frank Kean at halftime of its eight-man football game on Friday evening and sent him home with a parting gift.

A big 52-40 win over previously undefeated Onteora.

Kean spent 38 years at Eldred, with 36 of those spent as a football coach. He led the Yellowjackets to the Class D state semifinals in his last season in 2009. Kean also coached baseball and girls’ basketball and was well-liked by his players and peers.

More than 100 athletes and alumni attended Friday night’s game, with some Eldred grads traveling from throughout the country to spend the night with Kean. His family was also in attendance.
