The San Francisco 49ers are spending their fifth week this season without starting quarterback Brock Purdy as he continues to nurse a toe injury that he re-aggravated against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In addition, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will miss his third consecutive game for the 49ers with a knee injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan had hoped Pearsall would practice in each of the last two weeks, but the wideout has yet to log a practice.

Both injuries have raised concern about the severity of the issues, but The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that Purdy and Pearsall are both expected back in Week 8.
