LSU fans are fed up with Tigers football coach Brian Kelly, and they kind of have a point.
No. 10 LSU — which will surely fall in the weekly rankings now — lost Saturday on the road against No. 17 Vanderbilt in large part because Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia just couldn't be stopped. The Tigers are now 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in the SEC with a loss to Ole Miss at the end of September.
BRIAN KELLY: How much is LSU football coach Brian Kelly's buyout? Salary, contract details in 2025
To be fair, this Pavia-led Vanderbilt squad is not the Vandy program many college football fans grew up with. The Commodores are a talented team that had control over the Tigers for nearly the entire game, out-gaining LSU in total yards (399-325) and particularly on the ground (239-100). In addition to throwing for 160 yards and a touchdown, Pavia led his team with 86 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
LSU remains hanging around the middle of the SEC standings, is far from conference championship game contention and a 2025 College Football Playoff berth is moving farther out of reach. That's pretty par for the course of Kelly's tenure with the Tigers.
LSU-VANDERBILT: Vanderbilt picked the perfect song to troll LSU after upset win
With Kelly in the middle of his fourth season in Baton Rouge, none of this seems to be sitting well with Tigers fans, especially considering LSU doesn't look any closer to earning a spot in the SEC title game or a CFP berth. Unsurprisingly, many LSU fans took to Twitter (X) after the loss to Vanderbilt to demand the Tigers fire Kelly.
