FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A beloved local running event returned this weekend in emphatic fashion.

The Fargo Mini Marathon came back after a 5-year hiatus, having not been held since 2019.

There was a 5k Friday night, where runners were encouraged to dress up in costume, as well as a 10k and a half marathon Saturday morning. All races began at the Fargo Civic Center.

Race directors say they were inspired to bring back the event this year in honor of Mark Knutson, the director of the Fargo Marathon who passed away in 2023.

Over 900 people signed up in total for the three races, and staff say seeing them all cross the finish line was an amazing experience.
