FARGO — Hundreds of people started their day with a run on Saturday, celebrating the return of the Fargo Mini Marathon, the first one since 2019.

The run unfolded across a mild morning in late October, starting at the Civic Center in downtown Fargo and snaking south toward Lindenwood Park.

Friends and family came out to cheer on the runners as they embarked on a half marathon or a 10K, with an 8 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. start time. Friday evening, a 5K also took place, where participants were encouraged to dress in costume.

James Botnen, race director, said participation exceeded his expectations for the return of the popular autumn event. More than 900 people signed up for the three races, Botten said.
