KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Thousands of people in Knoxville showed up on Saturday for the second "No Kings" national protests , and organizers said they saw record-breaking turnout.
The protests were part of a larger national demonstration against the expansion of executive power under President Donald Trump.
The Knoxville Police Department said more than 1,500 people showed up to the protest. Indivisible Tennessee, the advocacy group that organized the protest, said they believed the number was much larger.
"The massive event brought out millions of people across the nation. Knoxville saw as many as 8,000 participants, which is estimated to be the largest demonstration in Knoxville history," Indivisible Tennessee said. "The No Kings 2 event was an opportunity for people to peacefully voice th
