Protesters lined almost a mile of Van Dyke Avenue and stretched east on Metro Parkway Saturday afternoon for the No Kings event in Sterling Heights.

The pro-democracy demonstration was part of a nationwide effort. More than 100 events were organized in Michigan alone including a smaller one in Romeo.

Grosse Pointe Park resident Jane Garrett carried a “No troops in our streets” sign and said her niece was attending a protest in Baltimore and her brother in San Francisco. Garrett was meeting her sister at the Sterling Heights event.
