LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -Community members gathered at the Capitol for the Make Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which helps honor those who have been affected by the disease.
The event allowed people to show their support by enjoying time with one another and to help show those with breast cancer that they’re not alone.
Those who attended got the chance to participate in different activities and a walk around the Capitol. They also got the chance to donate money to help scientists find a cure for breast cancer.
Cheryl Benjamin, who helped organize the event, talked about why doing this event is so important.
“It gives support. It lets them know that you are not by yourself and that there are many of those in the community who have been affected by breast cancer,” Benjamin said.
