INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts’ cornerbacks room has absorbed yet another blow.

Charvarius Ward, one of general manager Chris Ballard’s most expensive free-agent acquisitions, was placed on the injured reserve list Saturday. That requires the veteran corner to miss at least the next four games.

Ward was already in the NFL’s concussion protocol and had been ruled out of Sunday’s road test with the Los Angeles Chargers after suffering a second concussion this season during pregame warm-ups for last Sunday’s game with Arizona. He collided with tight end Drew Ogletree while each was going through casual drills.

Ward sustained the first trauma to his head in the season opener against Miami. He would miss the week 2 game against Denver.
