KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Saturday was the 10th annual Squeals on Wheels costume reveal party, hosted by Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes. The group makes custom Halloween costumes for kids in wheelchairs to be able to steal the show.

“I built costumes for my son growing up with his wheelchairs,” said co-founder Lon Davis.

“It was shared so many times on social media that we started getting requests.”

Now, Davis and his son Reece run the organization together and have expanded nationwide.

Kids get to choose what character they want to be before volunteers create the costume to fit their chair.

“We have to figure out how to design it around their unique chair,” Davis said.

“We put so many hours into these costumes, and we work tirelessly trying to get them ready. And it's just very exhausting. An
