CLOQUET, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The Fond du Lac Band’s Agricultural Division hosted its Giizhimiijimetaading Festival this weekend, celebrating Indigenous food sovereignty, sustainable agriculture and the end of the 2025 growing season.

The event — whose name translates to “Finishing Food Together” — brought community members together for a day of traditional music, food, and hands-on crafts.

Festivalgoers sampled a variety of dishes prepared by Native chefs and Native-owned businesses, reflecting a commitment to honoring traditional ingredients and foodways while supporting local producers.

Maria Defoe, director of the Fond du Lac Band’s Agricultural Division, said the festival is about both gratitude and connection.
