COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) announced that K9 Roam was discharged from the veterinary hospital on Saturday!
This comes after police said Roam was stabbed multiple times while trying to help officers take a barricaded suspect into custody on Wednesday.
Police said Roam was taken to an emergency veterinary facility in critical condition and underwent surgery. During the surgery, Roam’s left hind leg was amputated to control the bleeding. After several days of recovery at the vet hospital, police say they expect Roam will be ready to head home Saturday.
Police confirmed with 11 News that K9 Roam will be retired and will stay with his handler following his recovery.
