In a setback to the ruling NDA ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the nomination papers of Seema Singh, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate from Marhoura in Saran district, were rejected on Saturday on technical grounds.

Seema Singh, a former Bhojpuri actress, had been fielded by Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s party as part of the NDA’s seat-sharing arrangement. Her disqualification came during the scrutiny process, leaving the party scrambling to address the issue.

Responding to the development, Chirag Paswan said, “We have submitted a representation before the Election Commission. The situation has arisen because of a small lapse. Hopefully, it will be resolved.”
