One arrested protester confessed that he had never heard of Zubeen Garg and was unaware of the singer’s death.
At least 9 people have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in the violent protests outside the Baksa District Jail on October 15, following the transfer of 5 accused in the Zubeen Garg death case from Guwahati. Another 19 individuals are being identified from video footage of the incident.
Those shifted to the Baksa Jail at Mushalpur include organiser of the North East India Festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen Garg’s manager Siddhartha Sharma, his cousin and DSP Sandipan Garg, and PSOs Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya.
The unrest reportedly broke out after crowds were incited to demonstrate and resorted to stone pelting outside the jail. However, investigations
