A mum died after falling severely ill during a holiday to celebrate her husband’s 60th birthday and their son’s engagement. ‌

Part-time nurse Elena Walsh, 64, began suffering from symptoms including sickness and diarrhoea as well as heavy sweats. She died two days later. ‌

Her devastated husband Patrick said he had expressed concern about the alleged “ unhygienic ” five-star hotel Riu Cabo Verde resort in Sal in Cape Verde , where the family had been staying. ‌
